The Washoe County Coroner has revealed the identity of the man that was killed in Monday’s shooting at Lazy 5 Regional Park in Sparks. The victim’s name is Robert DeCoite, 20, of Sparks.
Autopsy results are expected for the determination of the cause of death.
Secret Witness is offering a reward of $2,500 for information that will help the police in arresting the suspect or suspects connected with the shooting.
Due to the shooting in the park, the Washoe County Senior Services have closed senior meal service at the park on Tuesday. The park is expected to be opened as soon as possible. Washoe County officials inform Lazy 5 Regional Park in Sparks will remain closed until the Sheriff’s Office finalizes the investigation of the fatal shooting.
Sheriff Darin Balaam said the shooting occurred near the library at Lazy 5 Park in the afternoon, around 3:30 p.m., on Monday, December 2, 2019.
When the deputies arrived on the scene, there were several people; deputies found a man lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
For now, there is no information on whether the identity of the shooter is known.
