LAS VEGAS, NV – A family of three and their pet dog died Thursday morning after their vehicle collided with a pickup on I-15, sending the two vehicles over a retaining wall.
According to Fox 5 Vegas, the driver of a Volvo sedan made an unsafe lane change at around 11:15 a.m. Thursday, colliding with a Ford truck that was hauling an off-road vehicle. The impact of the collision sent both parties into the right wall of the interstate and over the retaining wall.
Somehow, the Ford pickup truck landed on top of the Volvo, with the family still inside. The driver of the pickup was able to scramble from the wreckage and safely extricated his four-year-old daughter before the Volvo underneath them caught fire. A good Samaritan pulled over and rendered further assistance.
Everyone inside the Volvo died. Rescue crews could not get close to the victims because of exposed live wires near the scene.
The identities of the family inside the Volvo have not been released.
