LAS VEGAS, NV – A 1-year-old boy was killed Sunday evening when his mother, who was driving 121 mph, collided with another vehicle.
The crash happened near the intersection of Lake Mead and Rampart Boulevards on Sunday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m.
The 24-year-old mother, Lauren Prescia, was driving a 2020 Hyundai Sonata northbound on Rampart Blvd with her son, Royce Jones, in a car seat.
Prescia approached Lake Mead Blvd at a maximum speed of 121 mph before colliding with a 2011 Nissan Sentra at the intersection. The force of the impact tore off the side of Prescia’s Hyundai and threw her son from the car.
The baby suffered severe trauma to the head and was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. the next morning.
Prescia is facing charges including DUI resulting in death, felony reckless driving and abuse, and neglect or endangerment of a child, according to Fox 5 Vegas.
